Gary The Spear Thrower

I wikied my first name (Gary). Apparently it used to describe a spear thrower -- fitting that the citing for this claim is missing on wiki. The popularity of the name has been diminishing since the 50s...I could of have guess that. Does anyone got some spears I can throw? haha

Deep Throat, you lived down the street from me and we never knew for the longest time...

Yesterday at the age of 95, W. Mark Felt died of congestive heart failure. In 2005, Felt revealed to reporters on the porch of his Santa Rosa home that he was indeed "Deep Throat." His secret was kept to himself for over 30 years -- his own family did not know reportedly until 2001. Those close to him believe he step forth because the burden took its tole in his later years.

Former FBI associate director Felt was the mysterious informant who helped reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein unfold the Watergate scandal which ultimately lead to the resignation of President Nixon. Felt moved to Santa Rosa, CA in 1991.

His house is literally 1000 steps from my parent's house. Growing up, I used to jog passed it all the time. Also, my buddy used to live in the house across the street from him.

Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy

Speaking of David Bowie (reference to last post), here he is again. David Bowie and Bing Crosby teamed up in 1977 to record this song. Though undoubtably an odd pairing, the duet has stood the times and is considered a classic carol to many. It's definitely one of my favs.

The Snowman

You remember this cartoon? This "classic" was always part creepy and depressing to me. Creepy partly because David Bowie does the introduction and looks oddly normal. Depressing...well watch the end. Giving it credit - everything in the middle is light-hearted.

The Snowman by Raymond Briggs, is about a little boy who builds a snowman, that takes him on an adventure one snowy night.

Joe Satriani looks to sue Coldplay?

I always enjoy when copyright infringement cases pop up in the media. It lets you be the judge. This one is Joe Satriani accusing Coldplay for stealing his work. Listen to Satriani first then Coldplay. What do you think? I think the melody is pretty similar - I side with Satch. I might be a little bias: I grew up listening to Satch and always thought Coldplay was a little douchey...but that's another story...
