Me Love You Splenda Long Time!

So it took me ~ 6 months to finish a Splenda box with regular use - cereal and coffee daily (left). Not knowing how long it would last, I ended up buying Splenda in bulk at Costco ~ 4 months ago (center). If you couldn't tell, these Costco bags are considerably larger than the box.

Anywho, in my rough estimation, I will finish off the bags in 2012 - in 4 years! (right). Yikes! Does this stuff go bad?

Lost

ABC makes it REALLY easy to get addicted to "Lost". All episodes are available for streaming online here. I successfully watched 71 episode in 5 weeks! Needless to say, I am all caught up and limited to watching the new episode that airs once a week. If you're not watching, I recommend you get addicted!

Spring Training is Here!

Today was the first day of Spring Training signifying my return from baseball-hibernation. For my team, the San Francisco Giants, it symbolizes a much needed clean slate after last year's season debacle.

Trust me, if I wasn't doing the Audiology shtick I would be out there shagging balls and roping line-drives trying to make the 40-man roster!

Play Ball!

Man on the Run

So I have a personal goal to run a half-marathon
race
(13.1 miles) in May of this year. To date, the furthest I've ran is 10 miles total on a treadmill. Naturally, I've got some much needed training ahead of me. There is somewhat a "science" behind distance running that I am trying out. This includes "runs that just log in miles," short "sprint runs" and eating (gel/goo) and drinking (water) while still pacing myself.

Anywho, Green Lake (in Seattle, WA) is my current stomping ground for training. For the longest time I was running on a treadmill, however running outside is a completely different ballgame - different muscles get worked out. Green Lake is 3.1 miles if you go around the paved path. Essentially I need to run laps around it - I'm up to a little over 2 right now and adding 10% for each additional run.

On Green Lake, there is considerable bob and weaving involved! Watch out for:

1) Babies in multiple strollers - often moms are out in bunches and walk in rows
2) Dog leashes - on dogs (of course), watch out for tripping on them
2) Walkers with cellphones - heads cocked, they are gazing at anything other than the road
3) Fancy walkers - their stride sways from side-to-side...it's hard to anticipate their next step (I'm not kidding)

Anyone run? If anyone wants to go Green Laking let me know.

Can We Go Back! Music Videos:

Bobby Brown - "Don't Be Cruel"

I particularly like the dancing/pleading method- that seems to always work for me!

Good Morning?

VVVRRRR! RRRRRRR! These are sounds I woke up today to. Coming from across the off-street alley from my house were sounds of wood being pulvarised into sawdust. In other words, a crew of workers were busily cutting down branches from a tree in my neighbors backyard. Oh yea, they were blocking my car (notice the white car?)! Fortunately, I wasn't running out the door for anything.

Me, being concerned for their hearing, noticed they were wearing ear muffs for hearing protection. At least THAT gave me some sense of morning peace.

Minute Music Review: "28 Weeks Later"

The Soundtrack to "28 Weeks Later" by John Murphy is worth stimulating your ears with. It's an eerie journey that uses no more than strings, guitars, electric beats, and piano to symphonically paint the horror that unfolds as the "infection" breaks out...again.

Simply said - It's an ambient masterpiece.

Welcome to My Blog!

So...this is more or less an experiment. Consider this Gary's Blog (Beta). I thought I would just post randomness and current events. Look for - amongst other things - music reviews, pics, and *gasp* opinions. Comments, concerns, and criticisms are welcome!
