The first of many for Lincecum
Hats off to Tim Lincecum for winning the 2008 National League Cy Young award. It's been a long time coming - The last San Francisco Giant to win this prestigious award was Mick McCormick in 1967. Lincecum was trully dominant this season posting the league's best in strikeouts and winning percentage. Arguably, setting him apart from the other potential candidates may have been his delivery swag and impressionable young looks.
Other great news for the hurler: Lincecum will grace the upcoming cover of MLB 2K9.
Let's hope there isn't a Madden curse

November means one thing...November Rain
Did you know Guns and Roses' November Rain is the longest running song (8m 57sec) to reach the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100?

Remembering the top of my rice cooker...
The top of my rice cooker died a gruesome death this last week. I fumbled it from chest high and watched it tumble down to the kitchen floor. The centered glass shattered on impact...The 'top' served me well for 9 years starting when I was a freshman in college.
A short eulogy:
Top of rice cooker, you were more than just part of the rice cooking process and I will miss you dearly. If it wasn't for you, the rice would not cook at all! I appreciated your abilities to churn out cup after cup of wonderfully cooked sticky rice. We've shared some moments. Who could forget those times when I needed to cook rice in bulk for spam musubi to serve our BBQ guest? I will miss the tremblely dance you'd do midway through cooking, "brrrumm brrumm brumm!" You would make people turn there head and say, "what was that?" when you did that little jig, remember that? No one will ever quite replace you. I know you're in a better place. I will poor some rice out for you...rest in peace my friend.
Now for some farewell songs:

My Prayers to Chi Cheng
Deftones bassist Chi Cheng was recently involved in a car crash in Santa Clara, CA which has left him in a coma. Fortunely, as reported by lead singer Chino Moreno, he is in "serious but stable condition". Source. I can only hope that he will make a speedy recovery.
From high school to mid-college, the Sacramento based Deftones was always on my CD player (back when they existed). Their indie hard rock metal was a gateway band that opened my appreciation to a range of angsty music.
Here is a classic Deftones music vid:
