Today was intervals: 1) jog 10 minutes, then 2) 5 X 60 second sprints (w/ 60 second jogs in between each sprint), lastly 3) jog another 10 minutes. Intervals increase efficiency allowing you to run faster with less energy...in theory.

As Pascal would say, doing this will allow you to increase your VO2 max, which is needed for fast running. Sounds like you've got a good plan going! And damn that photo, it looks so awesome in Seattle. Tell me more about the running eye candy..
